Branding
Editorial discipline is a commercial asset

Typography, grids and restraint are not aesthetic preferences. They are how a company signals that it can be trusted with detail.
A brand is judged on consistency long before it is judged on creativity. The tell is rarely the logo. It is whether the same company produces a document, a website and a product label that look like they came from the same organisation.
Editorial discipline is the mechanism behind that consistency: a defined grid, a limited type scale, a controlled palette, and a short list of things the company does not do. It is unglamorous and it is the difference between a brand that scales and one that has to be redesigned every eighteen months.
For companies operating across markets, this discipline matters more, not less. Each new territory is a chance to drift. A written system is what prevents it.
